The simple past (also called past simple, past indefinite or preterite) is a verb tense which is used to show that a completed action took place at a specific time in the past. The simple past is also frequently used to talk about past habits and generalizations.
STRUCTURE
- POSITIVE:
(+) SUBJECT + VERB (Past simple) + COMPLEMENT.
- NEGATIVE:
(-) SUBJECT + AUXILIAR DID + NOT + VERB (Infinitive) + COMPLEMENT.
- INTERROGATIVE:
(?) AUXILIAR DID + SUBJECT + VERB (Infinitive) + COMPLEMENT?

I - DID
YOU - DID
HE - DID
SHE - DID
IT - DID
WE - DID
YOU - DID
THEY - DID
IMPORTANT:
If you do not find a verb in the above list, it is is because it is a regular verb, in that case, to have the verb in past simple, you should add to the end of the base form verb: ED.
Example:
Play - played.
Rain - Rained.
